The ESFA update in December detailed that colleges can make the request if they have not already requested an extension to complete works funded by the FECA and where exceptional circumstances have arisen that are outside of their control.

Should you wish to apply, set out those circumstances to the DfE FE Capital Team in an email to [email protected]. The email should include proposals for how much of the FECA spend will fall into the 2021 to 2022 financial year.

Contact should be made as soon as possible if you think an extension will be necessary.  The FE Capital team will only accept such requests where the reasons for the extension could not have been foreseen and with the above details included.

This may be welcome news for some colleges who are struggling to meet the deadline of 31 March 2021 to complete works.

Should colleges need to find building contractors to undertake their programme of building works, CPC’s Minor Works Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) provides the ideal solution. The DPS is split into 29 different trade specialisms allowing you to get quotes from pre-qualified contractors and your local or incumbent contractor can get involved too.

We recommend asking your trusted incumbent contractors to apply to be on the DPS as soon as possible to enable them to participate in any FECA funded project tenders our members are looking to undertake.  Only those contractors registered in the relevant lot at the point you publish your tender will be invited to participate.

Find out more about the Minor Works DPS and how it can help you source quotes from building contractors by visiting the CPC’s DPS webpage or by contacting the DPS Manager Peter McMullan on 0161 974 0950 or email [email protected].
